If US "leaves" deal, Iran to resume nuclear program -- Zarif

WASHINGTON, April 22 (KUNA) -- Iran is "ready" to restart its nuclear program if President Donald Trump walks away from the agreement and resumes sanctions, said Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in an interview Sunday with CBS News.
"We have put a number of options for ourselves, and those options are ready," Zarif told moderator Margaret Brennan, "including options that would involve resuming at a much greater speed our nuclear activity.
Trump has argued that he would leave the deal by May 12 unless tougher restrictions were placed on the country.
If the US left the deal, Zarif said, "we have put a number of options for ourselves and those options are ready, including options that would involve resuming at a much greater speed our nuclear activities." He added, "Obviously the rest of the world cannot ask us to unilaterally and one-sidedly implement a deal that has already been broken." The foreign minister highlighted that the US has not left the deal since, "everybody has advised the administration that this is not a bilateral agreement between Iran and the United States and withdrawing from it would be seen by the international community as an indication that the United States is not a reliable partner in the international community."
