French security forces kill abductor

PARIS, March 23 (KUNA) -- French security forces on Friday shot dead an armed man who held a number of people as hostages inside a store in South France.
Security sources said the slain gunmen was known for the security authorities and that he demanded release of Salah Abdulsalam, who carried out the Paris terror attacks in 2015.
Up to three people were killed today when the gunman held a number of people as hostages inside a store, however many of the hostages managed to make it to safety.
The incident happened when France remains on maximum alert after terror attacks since 2015, starting in January that year with the assault on satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo that left 12 people dead.
France also suffered major attacks in Paris in November 2015 when IS "jihadists" killed 130 people in bombings and shootings at bars, restaurants, the Bataclan concert venue and the national stadium. (end) mjz.rk
