Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah
KUWAIT, March 21 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah has stressed the importance of combining efforts to reach a political resolution to the Syrian crisis for paving the way to the reconstruction process.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled made the statement during a speech at the Kuwait Investment Forum 2018 on Wednesday.
He said that the international community should assume its responsibility to reach a political resolution in Syria and then begin the rebuilding process, after a seven-year conflict in that Arab country.
He added that the Foreign Ministry focuses on the economic diplomacy based on the vision of His Highness the Amir aiming to resolve disputes peacefully and enhance the role of the international organizations, mainly the United Nations and the Security Council.
He expressed his joy for the UN's choice of Kuwait to host three donor conferences for Syria.
This shows that Kuwait has several distinguished factors enabled it to host these conferences and achieve the aspired goals, he made clear.
The minister stated that the State of Kuwait hosted the intra-Yemeni peace talks, with the aim of reaching a peaceful solution in that country, and participated, through mediation efforts by His Highness the Amir, in resolving the Gulf crisis.
On ties with Iraq and Iran, the minister said they are two important countries in the region, indicating that having normal relations between them and GCC member states is a component of security and stability in the region.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled pointed out that the Yemeni people have been suffering from diseases, starvation and shortage of many needs.
He stressed that Kuwait has mobilized all its energies to help needy people in Yemeni wherever they are, adding that it has provided great humanitarian aid in Africa as part of its foreign policy.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh said that the second session of the forum has witnessed a remarkable development, noting that ministers talked about what has been achieved on ground over a whole year during a session yesterday.
He emphasized keenness by the government on creating an investment environment, referring that efforts are directed to help the country attract both local and foreign capitals.
He revealed that the Direct Investment Promotion Authority law offered unique advantages for investors across the globe.
The minister voiced his hope that indexes and figures will witness further improvement in the next forum, especially action is underway to develop some legislations pertaining to the improvement of competitiveness and corruption perceptions indices.
He referred that developing human resources is part of the government's priorities. (end)
