VIENNA, March 16 (KUNA) -- A joint committee supervising the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), known as Iran nuclear deal, held a closed meeting in Vienna Friday on the level of political directors.
The quarterly meeting between Iran and the world powers aims to assess Tehran's commitment to the JCPOA, as well as boosting mechanisms of bilateral cooperation.
The meeting comes at a time of tense relations between the West and Russia against the backdrop of charging Moscow of poisoning the former Russian spy Sergei Skripal in London, as well as differences over some international issues, including developments in the Middle East.
The US Congress is planning to review JCPOA over the coming weeks, as President Donald Trump threatens to withdraw from the agreement unless is amended.
Iran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council - China, France, Russia, the UK, and the US - plus Germany) and the European Union (EU) concluded the deal in Vienna in July 2015.
In latest monthly reports, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stressed that Iran was "implementing its nuclear-related commitments" under the deal. (end)
