Today in Kuwait's history

KUWAIT, Feb 3 (KUNA) -- 1938 -- Intellectual figure Sheikh Abdulaziz Ahmad Al-Rushaid passed away at age 51. He was headmaster of Mubarakiya and Ahmadi schools in 1921. Al-Rushaid was member of the Shura council and published as well the first "Kuwait magazine" in 1928, he was one of the first supporters of public libraries and Literature club.
1963 -- The women's cultural and social society was established.
1986 -- The Ministry of Health opened the first Middle East Conference on AIDS.
1996 -- Kuwait's Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued a decree establishing the College of Pharmacy at Kuwait University.
1997 -- The 'Hala February' festival was launched with the aim of invigorating the economy in Kuwait. The Festival lasts for three-weeks and includes promotions, arts, culture, and sports events.
2009 -- Al-Sout Magazine ends publications due to economic factors, after issuing 86 editions, the first was on October 21 2008.
2010 -- The National Assembly approved a draft law concerning people with disability.
2011 -- France Ambassador to Kuwait Nada Yafi honors Kuwaiti Naval Commander Brigadier Ahmad Al-Mulla with France National badge, which is given by the Republic of France.
2014 -- Yemeni government and Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) signed USD 60 million worth agreement to finance Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad's college in Yemen. (end) mb
