KUWAIT, Dec 2 (KUNA) -- 1922 -- Kuwait and Saudi Arabia signed their first agreement over the demarcation of land borders. The Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Saudi Monarch Abdulaziz Al-Saud signed the agreement which became known as the "Al-Aqeer" accord.
1961 -- An Amiri decree was issued appointing Abdulrahman Al-Ateeqi as Kuwait's first ambassador to the US.
1961 -- Kuwait established diplomatic relations with Egypt and Abdulaziz Hussein is named ambassador in Cairo.
1961 -- Diplomatic ties between Kuwait and Jordan were forged at ambassadorial level.
1991 -- An Amiri decree was issued establishing the Supreme Committee for the Completion of the Implementation of Islamic Sharia (laws). The committee is as signed with the preparation of a plan to pave the way for the implementation of Islamic laws while taking state interests into consideration.
1997 -- Equate Petrochemicals Company kicked off the production of ethylene with exports of 12,000 tons of the product to European markets.
2005 -- Hamad Sheikh Yousef Bin Isa Al-Qinaie passed away at the age of 76. He was the second Kuwaiti to become a lawyer, after Suleiman Khalid Al-Mutawa.
2006 -- The National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letter presented Kuwait's honorary award for the year to poet Yaaqoub Abdulaziz Al-Rushaid, poet Ali Hussein Al-Sebti, writer Fatma Hussein Al-Essa, and actor Saad Al-Faraj.
2007 -- Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al-Sabah was re-elected by the Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC) as President for a second consecutive four-year term, 2008-2011 on Sunday.
2008 -- Kuwait, represented by Health Undersecretary Dr. Ibrahim Al-Abdulhadi, became the first Arab country to head the meetings of the International Hospital Federation since its establishment in 1947.
2011 -- Kuwait lauded outcome of UN human rights report on the situation in Syria. (end) mb
