Today in Kuwait's History

KUWAIT, Jan 10 (KUNA) -- 1964 -- Kuwait and Iraq established diplomatic relations, with Mohammad Ahmad Abdullatif Al-Hamad as Kuwait's first ambassador to Iraq.
1964 -- The Kuwaiti and Turkish governments agreed to establish diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level.
1966 -- Kuwait Red Crescent Society, established in December 1965, was proclaimed to aid people in crises in line with Geneva Conventions.
2000 -- Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah inaugurated a security station on Warba Island, located opposite the Iraqi marine border line, to monitor security in the northern part of the Gulf.
2002 -- Kuwait officially established an oil company to manage the divided zone, succeeding the Arab Oil Company, with a capital amounting to KD 120 million. It was named Kuwait Gulf Oil Company, and was a subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. (end) rk
