Arab League council calls on Darfurian groups to sign peace accord

CAIRO, June 19 (KUNA) -- The Arab League's permanent representatives called on Darfur's armed opposition groups to reach a comprehensive and conclusive peace settlement with the Sudanese government, in the quickest manner possible and according to the Doha Accord.
After an extra-ordinary meeting, the Arab League council said in its closing statement that the initiative was fundamental towards achieving long-lasting and comprehensive peace in Darfur, stressing the need for Egypt to be a major partner in the role of following up the implementation of the accord.
