ABU DHABI, May 21 (KUNA) -- The governments of the United Arab Emirates
(UAE) and the Republic of Congo announced on Monday establishment of
diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level.
A UAE foreign ministry statement said both countries wished to bolster
joint cooperation.
Acting Undersecretary of the UAE foreign ministry Ambassador Dr. Tareq
Ahmad Al-Haidan and Secretary General of Congo's foreign ministry Ambassador
Daniel Oasa signed the agreement on behalf of their governments.
President of the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayid Al-Nuhayyan held a meeting
with the Congolese President Denis Sassou-Neguesso who is currently on an
official visit to Abu Dhabi..
Khalifa stressed his country's interest in boosting the economic, trade and
investment relations with the African country.
On his part, President Denis praised the economic and cultural renaissance
in the UAE, expressing his country's interest in seeking cooperation and joint
investment opportunities. He pointed out the UAE's free economy open market
