MANAMA, March 2 (KUNA) -- The General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) announced on Monday the confronting of all Iranian terrorist aggressions that have continued to indiscriminately target various areas of the Kingdom with ballistic missiles and drones since early Saturday.
The BDF air defence systems have successfully intercepted and destroyed 70 missiles and 76 unmanned aerial vehicles. This sustained and brutal terrorist aggression has caused material damage to civilian properties and infrastructure, the General Command said in a statement.
It added that all defence systems are at the highest state of readiness to ensure the immediate and decisive neutralisation of any threat.
The Kingdom of Bahrain reaffirmed its legitimate right to take all measures necessary to defend its sovereignty and national security.
The General Command of the Bahrain Defence Force further affirmed that the indiscriminate and disproportionate use of missiles and drones to target civilians and civilian objects constitutes a flagrant violation of the principles of international humanitarian law and the United Nations Charter, and a wholesale disregard for all international conventions and the norms of human conduct.
The General Command urged all residents to remain indoors and to venture outside only in cases of absolute necessity, exercising the utmost caution and vigilance for their personal safety.
The statement stressed that the public is further urged to rely exclusively on official sources for information, to refrain from filming military operations, to avoid spreading or sharing unverified rumours, and to keep well clear of any affected or damaged sites. (end)
