Russia: attacks on civilian targets in Iran, Arab countries "unacceptable"

MOSCOW, March 2 (KUNA) - Russia on Monday condemned attacks on civilian targets in Iran and Arab countries, calling them "completely unacceptable" and urging an immediate halt to prevent further regional instability.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said all parties in the region should exercise restraint. He confirmed ongoing contacts with Iranian authorities to assess the impact of US-Israeli strikes on Iran and avoid escalation.
Moscow is also consulting leaders of other affected countries, including Gulf states, and Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to hold an international phone call Monday regarding the situation around Iran.
The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed deep concern over the widening military confrontations in the Middle East, warning that continued fighting threatens humanitarian conditions and regional and international security. It stressed that any attacks on civilian facilities, critical infrastructure, or populated areas violate international humanitarian law and called on all sides to protect civilians and resolve disputes through political and diplomatic channels.
