UAE summons Iran Amb., hands him strongly worded note of protest

ABU DHABI, March 1 (KUNA) -- The UAE's foreign ministry summoned on Sunday Iran's Ambassador Reza Ameri and handed him a strongly worded note of protest.
In the strongest terms mentioned the note, the ministry expressed, to Ameri, the UAE's condemnation and denunciation of the "terrorist" Iranian strikes.
It stressed that the targeting of the country's land is a blatant violation of its sovereignty and a threat to its national security, UAE news agency (WAM) reported. The attacks also are a clear violation of all international charters, norms and resolutions.
UAE's minister of state Khalifa Al Marar voiced the country's categorical rejection of any excuse or justification made by the Iranian government regarding the hostile aggression, it noted.
The attacks targeted civil sites, including residential areas, ports, airports and service facilities, and jeopardized unarmed civilians, in a dangerous and irresponsible escalation, with no consideration to the UAE's stance in which the country affirmed that it would not allow the use of its land in any military operation against Iran.
These assaults run counter to the principles of good neighborliness and the UN Charter as well as undermine the escalation path and peaceful solutions adopted by the UAE towards Iran, it stated.
The agency warned against these dangerous repercussions on bilateral relations.
Al-Marar affirmed UAE's call for the respect for the country's sovereignty and the immediate and unconditional halt of these aggressions. The UAE fully keeps its right to retaliation, he affirmed, according to the agency. (pickup previous) skm.hm
