Israeli occupation kills 20 Palestinians in Gaza

GAZA, Feb 4 (KUNA) -- Israeli occupation forces renewed their military assault on the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, killing 20 Palestinians and injuring dozens, including a paramedic as well as women and children.
Health authorities in Gaza said in a press statement that emergency departments had received around 20 Palestinian fatalities since dawn following renewed air and ground strikes targeting residential homes and shelters housing displaced civilians.
The Palestine Red Crescent Society said in a separate statement that the bombardment killed a paramedic while carrying out humanitarian duties in Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
Eyewitnesses told KUNA that strikes targeted the Tuffah, Shuja'iyya, and Al-Zaytun neighborhoods, forcing dozens of families to flee their homes.
They added that occupation helicopters and drones struck two tents sheltering displaced people in the coastal Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis.
Health authorities warned that the death toll is likely to rise due to the critical condition of many of the wounded and the difficulty of providing treatment in Gaza's hospitals amid ongoing attacks across the enclave. (end) wab.dss
