CAIRO, Feb 1 (KUNA) -- Foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar strongly condemned repeated violations by Israeli occupation forces of the ceasefire in Gaza, which have resulted in the deaths and injuries of more than 1,000 Palestinians.
In a joint statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday, the ministers said these actions constitute a serious escalation that inflames tensions and undermines efforts to consolidate calm and stabilize the region, when regional and international parties are working together to advance the second phase of the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump and implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.
The statement emphasized that repeated violations pose a direct threat to the political track and could hinder ongoing efforts to create conditions for a more stable security and humanitarian situation in Gaza, stressing the need for full adherence to measures that ensure the success of the second phase of the peace plan.
The ministers called on all parties to fully assume their responsibilities during this sensitive phase and exercise maximum restraint to maintain and sustain the ceasefire, avoiding any actions or practices that could undermine current efforts and the environment needed for early recovery and reconstruction.
The ministers reiterated the importance of achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace based on the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state in accordance with international law, relevant UN resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.
