Security operation kills 3 militants in SW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Jan 25 (KUNA) -- At least three "terrorists" were killed by security forces in an operation in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, said the military on Sunday.
According to a press release by Pakistan military's media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Panjgur district of Balochistan, on reported presence of terrorists.
During the conduct of the operation, Pakistani forces effectively engaged the terrorists' location and after an intense exchange of fire, three terrorists were killed, confirmed ISPR.
The killed terrorists included a local area commander, Farooq alias Soro.
"Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the terrorists, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area," said the military.
It further said that operations are being conducted to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area.
Relentless Counter Terrorism campaign by security forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country, the release concluded. (end) sbk.ibi
