Egypt urges accelerating Gaza int'l stability force deployment

CAIRO, Jan 17 (KUNA) -- Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty called on Saturday for expediting deployment of an international stability force in the Gaza Strip to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire.
Speaking in a joint press conference with his Bosnian peer Elmedin Konakovic following their talks in Cairo, Abdelatty added they shared views on international and regional developments, as well as unprecedented happenings in the Middle East.
The Palestinian issue, as the first Arab cause, featured high on their talks, he said, noting that they dealt with situation in Gaza and what has been announced by the US on completing the provisions of the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2803.
In addition, Abdelatty referred that they focused on the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal and the importance of full commitment to all provisions, including the Israeli occupation's withdrawal from Gaza, the deployment of the international force as well as proceeding with early recovery and rebuilding Gaza.
He noted that they agreed on effective action to halt violations committed by the Israeli occupation in the West Bank.
Talks also discussed disastrous situations in Sudan and efforts exerted to reach a humanitarian truce that results in a permanent ceasefire, he said.
They affirmed maintaining Sudan's unity and the state's institutions, he noted, indicating that Egypt has a firm position on this regard.
Both top diplomats further shared views on situations in Libya, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and the West Balkan developments, along Ukraine's crisis.
Meanwhile, the Bosnian minister said that Egypt is an extremely important partner to his country, hoping for continued cooperation in varied fields between the two sides.
He underlined the necessity of cooperation for rebuilding Palestine, mainly Gaza.
Despite the opportunity of making peace is weak, "we" move toward the right track and encourage the second phase, he noted. (end) asm.hm
