BRUSSELS, Jan 15 (KUNA) -- The European Union on Thursday welcomed the announcement of the launch of Phase Two of the United Statesآ’ 20-point plan to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip, which was endorsed by the United Nations Security Council under Resolution No. 2803.
In a press release, the European Commission underscored the importance of this step, particularly the nomination of a Palestinian National Committee to administer the Gaza Strip with the support of the Palestinian National Authority, considering it a key element in the path toward achieving stability and good governance in the territory.
The statement added that the European Union is "fully prepared to continue supporting efforts to establish peace in Gaza," noting that such support will include humanitarian, security, diplomatic, and various cooperation tools employed by the Union.
The EU also expressed its anticipation of the full implementation of the peace plan, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian assistance on a large scale, as well as the commencement of the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. (end) arn.aa
