Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty
CAIRO, Jan 8 (KUNA) -- Egypt has re-affirmed the necessity for the Israeli occupation to pull out from Gaza, and forming a Palestinian interim technocratic committee to manage the Strip and an international force.
This came during a telephone conversation between Egypt's Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to discuss regional developments, Egypt's Foreign Ministry said in a press release on Thursday.
Both sides dealt with the latest developments in Gaza and the current efforts proceeding with implementing the gains of the second phase of US President Donald Trump's plan.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of ensuring the full and safe entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip, and creating a propitiate condition for the early recovery and rebuilding, the statement stated.
Abdelatty conveyed President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi' appreciation to Guterres, lauding the wide and fair situations in dealing with varied issues at both regional and international levels, it noted.
In addition, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's categorical rejection of any actions that could undermine the geographic unity of the Palestinian territories or affect the organic connection between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. He also underlined Egypt's opposition to the division of Gaza under any name.
On Sudan, the minister emphasized the importance of pushing toward a humanitarian truce as a step toward a comprehensive ceasefire, underlining the necessity of preserving Sudan's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and supporting its national institutions.
He also stressed the importance of providing safe havens and ensuring unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the Sudanese people.
Egypt's top diplomat deplored the grave violations committed against civilians in Al-Fashir and North Kordofan, calling for adequate protection for civilians.
As for Yemen, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's steadfast support for Yemen's unity and territorial integrity, and the preservation of its national institutions.
He underlined the importance of reducing violence, and reaching de-escalation and a comprehensive political solution through Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue that meets the aspirations of the brotherly Yemeni people for restoring security and stability.
Furthermore, he confirmed that Israel's unilateral and illegal recognition of the so-called "Somaliland region" constitutes a blatant violation of Somalia's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
The step further undermines the rules of international law and the UN Charter, and represents a dangerous precedent threatening regional and international peace and security, he noted, reiterating Egypt's full support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Somalia.
Meanwhile, Guterres asked Abdelatty to convey his sincere greetings and appreciation to president Al-Sisi.
He commended Egypt's pivotal role in supporting security and stability in the region amid complex regional crises. (end)
