CAIRO, Dec 18 (KUNA) -- Egypt has renewed support for international efforts aimed at restoring security and stability in Sudan, including US President Donald Trump's vision to settle the strife in the troubled nation and other spots of conflict worldwide.
The Egyptian stance was expressed by Ambassador Mohammad Al-Shennawi, the Presidency spokesperson in a press statement marking visit by President of the Sovereign Council of Sudan, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.
The presidential spokesperson said Egypt is deeply concerned about the continuing escalation and intense tension in Sudan, where horrific massacres and flagrant abuses have taken place against civilians, particularly in the city of El-Fasher.
"There are red lines breaching of which cannot be tolerated because they are closely related to Sudan's national security," Ambassador Al-Shennawi said.
Preserving Sudan's unity, sanctity of its territories and the people's resources are some of the most important red lines, he said, reiterating Cairo's rejection of establishing "parallel entities." Egypt reserves the right to intervene to preserve the Sudanese State institutions, Ambassador Al-Shennawi added.
He has affirmed that Egypt would continue to act through the international quadripartite to reach a humanitarian truce and establish humanitarian alleyways to relieve civilians.
The "Quadripartite for Sudan" refers to a group of four key nations the United States, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that formed a diplomatic bloc to address the Sudanese conflict, proposing a roadmap for peace including humanitarian truces, ceasefires, and a transition to civilian rule, aiming to counter extremism and promote stability in the region.
