By Muneera Al-Rabeea
KUWAIT, Dec 14 (KUNA) -- The Gulf Arab States Educational Research Center (GASERC) on Sunday launched "the first Gulf meeting for educational researchers" under aegies of the Kuwaiti Minister of Education Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei and Director General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States Dr. Mohammad Al-Muqbel.
The event, held at GASERC's headquarters, is scheduled until Monday.
In his opening key speech, Al-Tabtabaei said he was elated to host elite educational figures, policy makers and experts from the GCC states. Educational research is the basis to overhaul the sector, he said.
The minister of education has indicated that rapid changes and mounting challenges warrant "evolving our research techniques and boosting integration with respect of the visions and experiences to stay abreast of the current age requirements."
For his part, Dr. Al-Muqbel said in remarks to KUNA the meeting came in line with the GCC states' approach to develop the educational system, affirming that investment in the educational research is a means to back sagacious decisions.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mohammad Al-Sharika, GASERC Director, said the meeting aims at setting up a sustainable platform comprising researchers and decision makers to exchange knowledge in the sector.
GASERC, headquartered in Kuwait, is a regional think tank operating under umbrella of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States. It is tasked with supporting in-depth educational research and overhauling educational practices and policies in the GCC countries.
The GCC, founded in early 80s of the past century, groups Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar. (end)
