Sri Lankan Ambassador Lakshitha Ratnayake with KRCS Chairman Khaled Al-Maqamis
KUWAIT, Dec 9 (KUNA) -- Sri Lankan Ambassador Lakshitha Ratnayake expressed his country's appreciation for Kuwait's role, through Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRSC), in providing humanitarian and relief support to those affected by severe floods and cyclone-related destruction impacting over 600,000 families.
He stated to KUNA on Tuesday, following his meeting with KRCS Chairman Khaled Al-Maqamis, that the disaster left profound consequences on the lives of many affected individuals and created urgent humanitarian challenges requiring swift coordinated responses.
He voiced confidence that Kuwait's humanitarian efforts will significantly ease the suffering of impacted families, particularly given the difficult circumstances currently facing Sri Lanka, while underscoring the importance of continued support to address evolving needs on the ground.
For his part, Al-Maqamis affirmed KRCS commitment to sustaining its humanitarian role and extending assistance to people in need worldwide, noting that the meeting reviewed avenues of humanitarian cooperation and assessed urgent requirements in Sri Lanka to guide prioritized relief interventions.
