Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi
CAIRO, Oct 10 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed on Friday with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres the latest developments regarding the peace agreement in Gaza Strip.
Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy said in a statement that during a phone call with Guterres, President El-Sisi reviewed the content of the agreement reached through Egyptian-Qatari-American mediation and its various stages.
President El-Sisi stressed the necessity of reaching consensus on all details related to the different phases of the agreement and the need for its full implementation.
Egypt supports the role of UN agencies, especially the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), he added.
For his part, UN Secretary-General Guterres expressed his keenness to continue cooperating with Egypt to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza, affirming what President El-Sisi had emphasized regarding the necessity of agreeing on all details related to the ceasefire agreement in all its phases.
Guterres also stressed the need to immediately begin the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, expressing in this context his welcome of the conference that Egypt will host for this purpose. (end)
