RAMALLAH, Sept 9 (KUNA) -- A joint statement issued Tuesday, by the occupation's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that Netanyahu directed all military agencies to prepare for the possibility of eliminating Hamas leaders following the shooting operation that took place yesterday in the occupied city of Jerusalem, which resulted in the death of six settlers and the injury of others.
The joint statement read: "Today at noon, in light of an operational opportunity and after consultation with all heads of the security apparatus and with full support, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense decided to implement the directive given yesterday to the Israeli army and the Shin Bet, which they carried out accurately and in the best possible manner."
Both Netanyahu and Katz considered the operation "justified", claiming "this Hamas leadership initiated the October 7 operation and has not ceased carrying out attacks against Israel since then, including taking responsibility for yesterday's Jerusalem operation."
The Israeli army radio reported, citing military sources, that the attack on the Qatari capital was named "Summit of Fire".
It stated that the operation was carried out by fighter jets of the Air Force, noting that the ministers of the small cabinet had been informed about the operation in advance. (pickup previous)
