Saudi, Syria sign investment agreement

RIYADH, Aug 18 (KUNA) -- Saudi Arabia and Syria on Monday signed an agreement that promotes and protects investments between both countries on the sidelines of forum held in Riyadh.
Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said, the agreement was signed by both the Saudi Minister of Investment Khaled Al-Faleh and Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry Dr. Mohammad Al-Shaar alongside representatives from the private sector.
They also mentioned the agreement signed during the forum covered 47 investment projects across key sectors, with total investments exceeding SAR 24 billion, spanning real estate, infrastructure, finance, telecommunications and information technology, energy, industry, tourism, trade and investment, health, and other fields.
Al-Faleh assured that on this occasion the agreement embodies the Kingdoms vision towards building economic cooperation with brotherly nations, which strengthens the country's role in providing worldwide investment opportunities and enhancing its global investment role. The Syrian Minister greatly valued the Kingdoms role in promoting regional economic cooperation pointing to the agreement as a step towards deepening investments between both nations. (end) ash.aq
