Saudi Arabia launches HUMAIN to boost AI development

RIYADH, May 12 (KUNA) -- Saudi Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Public Investment Fund (PIF), Prince Mohammad bin Salman, announced the launch of HUMAIN, a new company aimed at advancing artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and attracting investment in the sector.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the PIF-owned company will focus on developing advanced AI applications, including a large language model, as well as building next-generation data centers and enhancing cloud infrastructure.
HUMAIN is expected to support AI capabilities at local, regional, and global levels, opening new opportunities in key sectors such as energy, healthcare, industry, and finance, and it will also play a key role in supporting Saudi Arabia's national AI strategy and digital economy ambitions.
The initiative aligns with the Kingdom's goal of becoming a global hub for data and AI, backed by its strategic location and ranking first in the 2024 Global AI Index for government strategy. (end) as.dss
