MUSCAT, April 30 (KUNA) -- A number of Kuwaiti authors and writers affirmed on Wednesday that participating in cultural forums and Arab and international book fairs enhances the presence of Kuwaiti books on the map of intellectual and cultural production.
This came in separate remarks to KUNA on the sidelines of their participation in the 29th Muscat International Book Fair, which kicked off last Thursday at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre and will continue until May 3.
Writer and Owner of Book Land Publishing and Distribution House, Jassim Al Omran, said that participation in book fairs contributes to strengthening the cultural and scientific movement in Arab societies, in addition to its pivotal and clear role in the renaissance of peoples and their awareness.
He stressed the importance of highlighting Kuwaiti intellectual and cultural productions to readers and book fair visitors, in addition to shedding light on the cultural and historical heritage of Kuwait.
For his part, writer and founder of Majra Publishing and Distribution House, Abdulmalik Al-Othman, said that this is his third participation in the Muscat Book Fair.
Writer Fahad Al-Bashara affirmed that the readership in the Sultanate is very broad and they have a great passion for reading and studying, in addition to their keenness to acquire all the latest books and publications.
He expressed his happiness to participate in this exhibition, which was distinguished by its wonderful organization and the great variety of useful books, in addition to containing many enjoyable events and activities.
In turn, Writer Abdullah Al-Enezi said that book fairs have witnessed an increase in the number of visitors in recent years, as they are leading cultural gatherings and centers that contribute to strengthening the publishing industry, enriching the cultural movement, expanding the horizons of reading, and opening the window to knowledge.
He pointed out that participation in these fairs has a significant impact on cultural integration and intellectual interaction.
Al-Enezi stressed the importance of Kuwaiti authors, writers, and literary figures attending these major events to represent their country in the best possible light, meet readers of various cultures and ages, and promote distinguished Kuwaiti publications. (end)
