AMMAN, Oct 17 (KUNA) -- The Syrian opposition said on Friday that their forces are encircling "50 Iranian fighters" in the northern city of Aleppo.
"Battalions of the revolution have taken control of new strategic points wrenching them from forces of the regime army east of Handrat," said Colonel Zaher Al-Saket, the head of the opposition military council, in a statement. They have also cut off a supply route linking Aleppo's central prison with the village of Sevat, "besieging 50 Iranian elements in addition to a number of Afghan warriors and Lebanese elements loyal to the regime," he said, alluding to Hezbollah's militiamen fighting alongside troops of Bashar Al-Assad's regime.
Al-Saket said the opposition gunmen sneaked into their foes' positions including barricades and tents, manned by the Iranian elements.
Noose has been tightened around these non-Syrian fighters and "our fighters can eavesdrop on their wireless contacts," Al-Saket said, in a statement released by the Syria-based opposition. (end) tk.rk
