Iran ready to discuss regional issues with European countries - FM

TEHRAN, March 4 (KUNA) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif reiterated that his country is ready for dialogue and cooperation on all regional issues with European countries if they share the same desire with Iran.
Iran and all European Union (EU) member countries share understanding on many regional and international issues, and both sides enjoy strong economic, political and parliamentary relations, he said.
Zarif made the press remarkson Sunday evening hours before a two-day visit to Iran by French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.
He said he will discuss with Le Drian the Iranian-EU joint efforts to maintain peace and security, including the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Reaffirming Iran's commitment to the nuclear deal reached in July 2015, Zarif accused the US of failure to meet its obligations to the deal and applying pressures on the EU states to follow their suit.
The US pressures on the European banks dealing with Iran were on the agenda of the meeting of parties to the JCPOA in Brussels, he added.
The French foreign minister is scheduled to start a visit to Tehran tonight for talks with his Iranian counterpart and President Hasan Rouhani as well as other senior officials. (end) fz.gb
