KUWAIT, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- Petroleum Economist has conferred the 2017 Project of the Year award on Antwerp Blending Plant of the Kuwait Petroleum International (KPI), Bakhait al-Rashidi, KPI CEO, said on Thursday.
In a press statement today, al-Rashidi said the winning of this international prize is fruit of commitment by KPI staff to implementing the company's strategic goals in carrying out major projects.
He stressed that the company seeks to seize the opportunity of this prize in enhancing its operations and developing its systems.
KPI is doing this in order to materialize the vision of Kuwait's oil sector that aimed at reaching a leading status globally in oil and gas domains on commercial, social and environmental levels, he said.
Manager of KPI's Stakeholder Management Department Adnan Al-Qallaf received the award during a ceremony recently held in London that featured a number of major petroleum industry companies, al-Rashidi noted.
He pointed out that the company submitted several projects to the competition's committee, but the prize went to Antwerp Blending Plant.
He revealed that the project includes the largest and modernist oil facility in Europe; its capacity reaches 152 million liters annually and is expected to hit 250 million liters.
Petroleum Economist's awards seek to honor individuals and companies, which make progress and development in energy industry.
KPI, known by trademark Q8, was established in 1983, with the aim of focusing on refining and marketing fuel, lubricants and other various petroleum derivatives globally.
The company is the international subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, which combines elements of Kuwait oil sector under one corporate umbrella and is recognized as one of the world's top ten energy conglomerates. (end) osj.amh.hm
