Federal judge blocks Trump's latest travel ban

WASHINGTON, Oct 17 (KUNA) -- A federal judge blocked the Trump administration's third attempt at a travel ban that was set to go into effect October 18, banning certain travelers from Syria, Libya, Iran, Yemen, Chad, Somalia, North Korea and Venezuela.
The decision came from Judge Derrick Watson of Hawaii which is likely to be appealed. But until then it means Trump cannot restrict the entry of travelers from six of the eight countries except North Korea and Venezuela, local media reported.
The previous two travel orders have been blocked over questioning if the president has the authority to create such a decision without congressional approval.
The second travel ban that was blocked was scheduled to go to the Supreme Court but an essential portion of that ban expired and Trump issued his latest ban before the hearing. It is likely this third iteration may be sent to the Supreme Court. (end) ak.hm
