UAE, Libyan officials discuss bilateral relations

ABU DHABI, July 8 (KUNA) -- Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al-Nahyan tackled Saturday with Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander General of Libyan Armed Forces ways to bolster bilateral relations and improve them between the two countries.
UAE news agency (WAM) said Sheikh Mohammad, also Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, congratulated Hafter on the liberation of Benghazi city from terrorist groups and wished success and good luck for the Libyan people and national forces for more victories in their efforts against extremists, terrorists in order to liberate all Libya from these destructive menaces of the nations' abilities and lives, security and stability of peoples.
Sheikh Mohammad expressed UAE's support for the Libyan people and their choices and ambitions for a stable and secure life.
Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed also expressed his hope for the unity of the Libyan people to serve Libya's national interests.
Sheikh Mohammad reiterated that the UAE's unequivocal position towards the stability of Libya and security of its people is the key driver of "our policy towards this brotherly Arab country." The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and the Libyan commander took stock of the latest regional and global developments, particularly coordination and cooperation with other regional and international actors in countering extremism, violence and terrorist organizations.
For his part, Haftar expressed gratitude to the UAE for standing with the Libyan people and to realize the importance of security and stability to Libya. (end) bsu.mb
