GAZA, Dec 30 (KUNA) -- One Palestinian was killed and another was injured,
early Friday, in an Israeli raid that targeted Hajer Al-Deek region, south
east of Gaza.
Local radio stations reported that an Israeli reconnaissance aircraft fired
a rocket targeting a group of Palestinians, which led to the death of a youth
in his 20s and the injury of another.
Medics, boarding ambulances, hurriedly arrived at the scene and transferred
the seriously wounded Palestinians to the nearest hospital to received medical
treatment.
Israeli Army radio justified the air attack by saying, "Israeli warplanes
targeted a Palestinian group that had the intention of launching rockets
towards Israeli territories from Hajer Al-Deek area."
"The same group had fired rockets few days ago on south of Israel," the
Israeli Army radio added.
Since Wednesday, the Gaza Strip has been experiencing tension due to
assassination of two Palestinian activists by Israeli forces. In retaliation
for such operations, Palestinian gunners fire mortars and rockets towards
south of Israel. (end
