(WITH POL-ISRAEL-US-TAXES)
GAZA, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- Palestinian chief negotiator Dr. Saeb Erekat
denounced on Wednesday Israel's rejection of a US request to unfreeze tax
funds due for the Palestinian Authority saying the measure was tantamount to
piracy.
Dr. Erekat, in a statement to KUNA by telephone from Cairo, said, "This
rejection demonstrates keenness of the government of Benjamin Netanyahu on
jeopardizing the peace process with the Palestinians."
The Israeli government had rebuffed a request by US President Barack Obama
to cease construction of settlements, he noted further. "The rejection to
transfer the funds is a proof of his continuing policy of theft and piracy,"
he added, alluding Netanyahu.
It is high time for President Obama to take decisions and measures vis a
vis such actions against the Palestinians, he said, urging the international
community to "stop dealing with Israel as a state above law." (end)
