Japanese Emperor has mild pneumonia

TOKYO, Nov 18 (KUNA) -- Japan's Emperor Akihito Emperor Akihito has been diagnosed with mild bronchial pneumonia and remains hospitalized Friday, but his fever has come down to almost normal, the Imperial Household Agency said.
The 77-year-old emperor has been under treatment at the University of Tokyo Hospital since November 6 for fever and symptoms of bronchitis. His fever risen to near 39 degrees Celsius but has been falling since Wednesday, the agency said, adding antibiotics he has been taking are working.
The Emperor will cancel his attendance at a Harvest Festival ritual at the Imperial Palace due Nov. 23 at the doctors' advice, it said.
He also missed a welcome ceremony and a banquet for visiting Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema earlier this week.
