Typhoon Nalgae hits Vietnam

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 (KUNA) -- Typhoon Nalgae hit Vietnam causing strong winds and high rough seas after spreading to various regions of the Philippines namely Luzon island last week.
National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting in Vietnam announced that the typhoon is sweeping the center of the country, 110 kilometers (km) far from Shisha island, expecting it to head west, with a speed ranging between 10 to 15 km per hour.
The typhoon will move towards the northern shores of 'Quang Tri' province, to 'Quang Ngai' province, located 190 km north west of 'Dak Nog' and 'Ha Tinh' provinces with a speech of 88 km per hour.
The center expected typhoon Nalgae to head towards the west and south west of Vietnam, at a speed of 10 km per hour.
This typhoon was accompanied by strong winds and high rough seas northern South China Sea, with expectations of heavy rains in central provinces of the country, the center added.
Meanwhile, the death toll of floods sweeping Cambodia, in the last two months, reached 164.
National Committee for Disaster Management in Cambodia said in a statement that the floods hit more than 15 towns and provinces in the country.
The families suffering from the floods reached 215,662, destroying more than 259 hectares of the rice fields, the committee added.
The floods destroyed 200 kilometers of main roads and 2,019 kilometers of minor roads in the country, it mentioned.
They are considered the worst in the country since the last decade, when the nation suffered from tidal floods killing 327 people and destroying a large number of farmlands infrastructures.(end) aab.lb KUNA 041332 Oct 11NNNN
