NEW DELHI, July 18 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton arrived
in New Delhi late Monday evening for a two-day official visit, during which
she would hold the second round of Indo-US strategic dialogue with India's
External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna.
The Indo-US strategic dialogue would encompass a host of key bilateral,
regional and international issues, including the security situation in
Afghanistan and Pakistan, and Indo-US security cooperation in the backdrop of
Wednesday's 13/7 serial blasts in Mumbai which claimed 19 lives and left
nearly 130 injured.
Besides Krishna, Clinton would be meeting Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh,
National Security Adviser Shiv Shankar Menon, and Congress president Sonia
Gandhi.
She is accompanied by a host of US leaders, including Director of National
Intelligence James Clapper, Assistant to President on Science and Technology
John Holdren, Deputy Energy Secretary Daniel Poneman, and Deputy Secretary in
the Department of Homeland Security Jane Lute.
On Wednesday, Clinton would be travelling to the country's southern city of
Chennai to meet representatives of US companies. Chennai is the capital city
of southern state of Tamil Nadu.
Sources in the Ministry of External Affairs said that the civil nuclear
cooperation between the US and India would also be a part of the strategic
dialogue. India is also expected to talk about American visa regime which is
impacting the movement of Indian IT (information technology) professionals to
the US (end)
