CAIRO, June 24 (KUNA) -- US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier "USS
Enterprise" weighing 93,000 tons passed through the Suez Canal on Friday on
its way to the Mediterranean Sea to take part on Nato missions.
The US aircraft carrier was accompanied by Pitcher-missile cruiser Light
Golf, and a supply ship, it passed the canal under tightened security measures
enforced by the Egyptian Suez Canal Authority including halting the traffic of
ferryboats across the canal, securing roads parallel to the canal as well as
the Peace Bridge across the Suez Canal at Al-Qanatra, west of Ismailia city,
said a source from the Suaz Canal Authority.
"USS Enterprise," is the world's first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.
