KUWAIT, June 13 (KUNA) -- Astronomy and Space Department at the Kuwait
Science Club announced the installation of a new astronomical telescope with a
16-inch diameter.
It is one of the biggest astronomical observatories in the Gulf region,
which works automatically with a direct communication satellite to monitor the
phenomenon of lunar eclipses and galaxies.
An astronomical researcher, Yasmin Al-Saber, who is also the director of
the department said in a press statement Monday that Kuwait will witness, on
June 15, the first lunar eclipse for this year, with the full moon.
Al-Saber added that the total eclipse of the moon will be seen in both
Western Australia, East and Central Asia, the Middle East, Central and West
Africa as well as Southern America.
The eclipse's duration will be approxamatly 100 minutes starting from 08:24
untill 02:00 am.(end)
