ALGIERS, May 8 (KUNA) -- Algerian border guards aborted Sunday an attempt
to smuggle 23 kilograms of drugs into the country from Morocco through
cross-border trafficking bands.
In a press statement, Algerian Border Guards authority said a group of
smugglers have used an animal to take the drugs to the other side of the
borders at night.
This is third drugs smuggling operation derailed by the border guards over
the past three days, the statement said, noting that one of those operations
included 130 kilograms of drugs also coming from Morocco.
Moreover, the border guards aborted Saturday the smuggling of 7,000 liters
of gasoline from Algeria to Morocco.
They also arrested nine illegal migrants who were trying to enter the
country without valid visas. (end)
