WASHINGTON, March 20 (KUNA) -- US Vice President Joe Biden discussed late
on Saturday with Afghan President Hamid Karzai efforts to protect Afghan
civilians.
"Vice President Biden called President Karzai to get an update on the
situation in Afghanistan and to underscore our ongoing commitment to
Afghanistan, including our efforts to protect Afghan civilians", the White
House said in a statement.
"President Karzai was appreciative of the call, reiterating the need to
prevent harm to Afghan civilians and to continue to build our strategic
relationship", added the statement.
At least one civilian was killed and four injured in an attack yesterday
after a suspected US drone aircraft shelled a farm area in the eastern
province of Nangarhar in Afghanistan. (end)
