IRBIL, Feb 26 (KUNA) -- Two Iraqis were killed and more than eight injured
Saturday when a blast hit anti-government demonstration in the northern Iraqi
city of Sulaimaniya, medical sources said.
The sources told KUNA that the explosion has targeted protesters in the
centre of Sulaimaniya and left many of them either dead or injured.
Earlier on the day, clashes erupted between angry protesters and police
forces.
Inspired by uprisings across the Arab region, the thousands of Iraqis took
to streets over the past days to call for upgrading government services and
combating rampant corruption.
On Friday, which protesters called "Day of Rage", at least 10 people died
and scores were hurt in clashes between demonstrators and security forces
which used sticks and fired shots to disperse them. (end)
