MANAMA, Jan 24 (KUNA) -- A Bahraini citizen had died of swine flu to be the
first victim of the H1N1 virus in the Arab Gulf Kingdom this year, Ministry of
Health said Monday.
The citizen, 46 years old, was admitted to Al-Sulaimaniya medical complex
suffering from complications in his respiratory system, the ministry said in a
statement.
Medical tests began to see if the patient had the H1N1 virus but his
condition deteriorated rapidly forcing the doctors to admit him to the
intensive care unit, it explained, but he passed away despite attempts to
treat him.
Six people died because of swine flu in Bahrain last year. (end)
