GAZA, Jan 22 (KUNA) -- Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom warned
on Saturday that the allegiance of Lebanese Druze leader to Hezbollah, in
forming a government, could lead to an "Iranian government" in southern
Lebanon.
In a statement reported by Israeli public radio, Shalom said "Hezbollah
would not only become a terrorist organisation, working under Iran, but a
sovereign government ruling Lebanon."
He regarded the development as one that represented a danger Israel should
monitor closely, adding that Israel would be ready to face for any likely
happenings.
On Friday, Lebanese MP and Druze leader Walid Jumblatt announced his total
support of Syria and the resistance, noting that the abandoning of the Arab
initiative was what pushed him to take this stance. (end)
