By Mohammad Al-Bahar GAZA, Jan 16 (KUNA) -- Egypt has expressed desire to invite all Palestinian factions to Cairo to discuss the Palestinian conciliation issue, the head of the dismissed Palestinian government Ismail Haniya said in Gaza last night.
Speaking to a delegation representing the Kuwait Journalists Association (KJA) during a visit to Gaza, Haniya said the desire was conveyed during a telephone contact with the Chief of the Egyptian intelligence Amre Suleyman.
"The Egyptian initiative reflects Cairo's certainty with the Palestinian- Palestinian dialogue and the necessity to go ahead with the reconciliation process", Haniya said.
The Islamic resistance movement (Hamas), with "positive perspectives', would review the invitation soon after Egypt officially presented it to the Palestinian factions, haniya said.
The Palestinians are currently facing a host of basic challenges, topped by the zionist occupation of the West bank, Gaza and Al-quds, Haniya said.
Israeli occupation authorities' plan to judaize the holy city of Al-quds has come to end, said Haniya.
The Israeli authorities' measures included displacement of the Palestinian people of Al-Quds, revoke of their identification cards and digging operations to change the demographic and geographic nature of the city, he said.
The four-years-old Israeli blockade of Gaza remained another challenge, Haniya said, calling on Arab and Islamic states to bring an end to this repressive and inhuman action.
Haniya called for end of the state of division among the Palestinian factions, especially Hamas and Fatah, the Palestine Liberation Organization mainstream. "No end for the blockade without Palestinian unity", he said.
The reconstruction of damage caused by Israel during its last war on Gaza is yet another challenge the dismissed government is facing, said Haniya, noting that 3500 houses have been destroyed and 500 palestinian families remained homeless.
He said the dismissed government in Gaza and Arab charity groups, including those of Kuwait, were exerting huge efforts to rebuild Gaza and cities of the strip.
On Israeli threats to repeat its aggression on Gaza, Haniya said the Israeli threats were seriously regarded and taken into consideration and responsibility.
The zionists hold the conviction that the strip of Gaza remained steadfast as long as Hamas existed, Haniya, said, noting that the Israeli military creed is based on occupation and aggression against the Palestinian people.
Sparing the Palestinian people the scourge of new Israeli wars on Gaza and the preparations for such aggressions, are two paths pursued by the authority in Gaza to confront the Israeli threats, Haniya said.
He said talks were underway with different Palestinian factions to block Israel from launching news attacks on Gaza.
This national dialogue is a success for the interior ministry of the dismissed government in Gaza, he said, noting that the authority in Gaza is also in contact with officials in Egypt, the Arab League, the United Nations and other regional and international parties to have a close look on the situation in Gaza.
All Palestinian factions have been committed to halting launch of missiles and attacks on Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories, Haniya said, adding that this action was adopted following a new Egyptian message that Israel would not tolerate such action.
On Hamas-Iran relations, Haniya said the movement was open to all Arab and Islamic countries, praising Iran for its initiative to support the Palestinian people under the present siege. "We accept this support, but we do not accepted with pre-conditions or commitments," he said.
Regarding Kuwait's national celebrations, Haniya said Kuwait is an independent Arab state, wishing its the best under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. (end) mab.bz.
