CAIRO, Jan 15 (KUNA) -- A court of the State Security adjourned on Saturday
prosecution in the case of espionage for the Israeli intelligence, involving
one Egyptian and two Israelis, till Monday.
The cross-examination was adjourned after the woman defendent lawyer
declared abtention from proceeding with the case, to give a chance for the new
lawyer to be present in the hearings.
The prosecution has charged the trio, the Egyptian, Tareq Abdel Razek, 37,
owner of an export-import company, and two Mossad officers, with holding
secret contacts with Israel and carrying out "hostile actions" in two foreign
countries (Lebanon and Syria), thus posing a threat to the bilateral ties with
these states.
Abdel Razek is accused of making a deal with the two Israeli officers
abroad for supplying them with reports about some officials working in the
communication sector to choose those who might accept to deal with the Israeli
intelligence. He was also advised to pick Lebanese and Syrians for spying.
The Egyptian defendant, during interrogations, confessed to enlisting
persons for espionage for Israel.
Other Arab states, namely Lebanon, have recently declared arrest of a
number of persons charged with spying for Israel. (end)
