 Kuwait, Jan 5 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's parliament on Wednesday renewed confidence in Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammed Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah after a closed session followed by a vote which he narrowly won.
Twenty-five lawmakers voted against the non-cooperation motion, 22 voted for. One MP abstained.

Parliament Speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi on his part underlined confidence and cooperation with His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammed Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
"In my name and yours we congratulate HH the Prime Minister for this confidence and wish him all the best", Al-Kharafi said before a parliament session which was made open for the public after the voting.
Kharafi then adjourned the session until next week.

- On his part, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah has underlined "the unity of the homeland and its social fabric as an obligation all are committed to".
In a press statement following the voting session on a motion of non-cooperation with the prime minister, His Highness Sheikh Nasser expressed hope to bypass the present stage and the interpellation against his government.
He said: "the dignity of the individual, citizens and residents alike, is a pillar of our order.
"The respect of the prestige of the state and the stability of the homeland is an objective that all join hands to defend against dangers and difficulties".
"The decision by the parliament today has materialized these values for righteous to prevail," Sheikh Nasser said, affirming that the lawmakers have proved that they were true justices who are committed to their oath and the provisions of the constitution Sheikh Nasser hoped for a new era of government-parliament cooperation in the service of the homeland, thanking all the members who have stood with and against him.
Sheikh Nasser appreciated members who stood with him.
He also looked forward for positive and constructive cooperation on the side of those who voted against him, affirming that he would show a true desire to march on the correct democratic path and fix whatever needed to be fixed.
Sheikh Nasser said the dignity of citizens was a precious objective that he pursue to preserve and do not accept to harm. "This is a principle that could not be questioned because it is a constitutional principle that stemmed from the firm values to which this noble nation is used to". (end) aj.bz KUNA 051258 Jan 11NNNN
