Netanyahu, Blair discuss rejuvenation of Mideast peace talks

GAZA, Jan 4 (KUNA) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met Tuesday with International Quartet Representative and Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
The two officials discussed means to revive the stalled peace talks between Palestinians and Israelis, said Israel radio, adding that Blair would be meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad later on.
The Palestinian-Israeli direct talks, backed up the US, had reached a stalemate after the issue of Israeli settlements was brought up to the table. With the Palestinian persistence on issue and Israeli stiffness to freeze settlement building, the Mideast peace talks had been put in jeopardy with international sides trying to overcome obstacles in the way of peace in the region.
