KUWAIT, Dec 28 (KUNA) -- Europe's blizzards caused by climate change led to
the migration of certain birds towards Middle Eastern countries such as
Kuwait, an official at Kuwait Environment Public Authority (EPA) said on
Tuesday.
Snowstorms forced the massive and extraordinary migration of hawks, eagles,
and falcons to the Middle East, Chief of EPA's natural preserves department
Yahya Al-Shihabi told KUNA.
Hummingbirds were taking long routes searching for warm weather, he added.
New types of birds would be crossing Kuwait and the Arabian Peninsula in
pursuit of food before reaching Africa, he said.
Many birds are tracked by ornithologists through satellites as part of
joint scientific researches, he noted.
Al-Shihabi called on citizens and expatriates to avoid shooting birds and
photograph them instead. (end)
