GAZA, Dec 19 (KUNA) -- Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Al-Maleki
condemned on Sunday an Israeli air strike that targeted locations in Gaza
Strip late on Saturday killing five people.
The Palestinian authority denounces each "Israeli attack against our people,
" said the minister in remarks to Voice of Palestine radio station.
Such recurring Israeli strikes are intended to manifest Israel's ability to
strike deep in the Palestinian territories, he said. "But despite the crimes
of the occupation, we maintain the will to continue the process of
construction and preparation for the proclamation of the state regardless of
the Israeli actions," Al-Malkei said.
Five Palestinians were killed in an Israeli air raid late on Saturday after
being targeted by Israeli warplanes in Deir Al-Balah in the middle of Gaza
Strip.
Gaza has been under control of the Islamic Hamas movement since the
militants drove followers of the mainstream movement, Fatah, from the enclave
in armed fighting in 2007.
Al-Maleki added that the Palestinian authority would address the United
Nations Security Council to solicit condemnation of such Israeli offensives,
as well the continuous settlement activities.
Elaborating, the minister expressed satisfaction at recent recognition of
the Palestinian state by some Latin American nations, noting that the
leadership would seek identical recognition from African and Asian states.
"Palestinian efforts are currently focusing on rallying recognition of
their state from the largest number possible of states across the globe, in
preparation for seeking recognition from the United Nations," he noted. (end)
