BAGHDAD, Dec 6 (KUNA) -- Iraqi President Jalal Talabani received Monday a
congratulatory cable from his US counterpart Barack Obama, for his re-election
as president for a second term.
Talabani received the cable during a meeting with the US ambassador to
Baghdad James Jeffrey Feltman, it was officially reported.
Obama, in the cable, underscored the strong relation that ties both
countries, and a pledge by the US president to boost cooperation.
Talabani asked the diplomat to convey his greetings to Obama, affirming
that the US-Iraqi relations are improving for the benefit of Iraq and the
United States.
Talabani stressed that the new governmental formation will be soon
accomplished under the chairmanship of Nouri Al-Maliki.
On his part, the US Ambassador affirmed his country's support for Iraq and
its policies for restoring stability to the country.(end)
